I am running Defenders Quest under Debian Linux, having installed the .deb (Version 0.8.6)
When I start the game, it tells me that a newer game version is available, and asks whether to download it. If I tell it to do so, it downloads 78MB, while displaying a nice percentage progress indicator to me. When it is finished, it offers to navigate to the download location (though I don't have the faintest idea how it intends to do that), before closing the game window. I click yes, I notice that the Game window changes, and for maybe a 1/10 of a second shows some other text, way to short to make out anything. And then the game window is gone.
I have tried started the game from command line, hoping it would maybe change the working directory to the download location, but no joy. I tried as root the commands 'updatedb; locate .deb | grep -i defend' to search for the file anywhere in my file system (A .deb file is what I chose in the game as format of the update), but that only finds my original download, of version 0.8.6, with the old date, so that can't be it. I also tried redownloading it using the link I got during the game purchase, but that is (naturally) expired.
Where does it try to save the update to, and what is the name of the update file? With that much basic information, I could figure the rest out.
(And is it really too much to ask of the update process to display a line "downloading to <path> ..." WHILE the download is ongoing!?)
Help? (pretty please
PS: First post. And I really, really like the game!
