Downloading Update

When I download the update, it sends me to a tmp folder to manually install but there's no file and I can't find a file that relates to defender's quest in my tmp folders. Is there a way to manually download the update file?

What OS are you using?
Maybe it's just hidden (so it's actually there but you can't see it)?
Do you have a cleaning Program that might have accidentally deleted the file?

I'm using windows 7, the file definitely isn't hidden and my cleaner isn't on auto-clean.

What version are you updating from?
Did it tell you the full path for the folder it saved the file in?

From 8.6 to 9.0.1. It sent me to the tmp folder, it only told me that I needed to go to the folder and start the file myself.

In Windows Explorer type %TEMP% into the location box.
You should see a number of folders and many of them will be named fairly randomly. What you want to do is make sure you're in the details view mode and sort by date modified (descending). The folder you want should be very close to the top, just look in each one until you find a file named defenders_quest_0_9_1.exe

Pretty sure that the correct filename. It should be close to that anyway. You might have to keep the game running in the background until you've found the file to keep windows from cleaning up the 'temporary' file. If that's the case you can move the file to your desktop then close DQ before you actually run the file.

Like the devs said in the update threads, the newer versions of the game handle this process better.

Ok apparently my computer is having trouble actually downloading the updater... I was watching the folder with the date modified set to recent on top, and when I clicked to redownload the file, nothing appeared in the temp folder.

It's possible the file is going elsewhere, but that's the most likely place for it. I'm afraid I can't think of any more suggestions to offer :(

If you absolutely can't get the update for any reason, send an email to leveluplabs@gmail.com with your order number and I'll hook you up with a direct link. I wish I could just give you permanent download links from the store, but FastSpring is stupid and makes them expire after a week so I have to manually reset them.
